Pretty sure people would be fine paying full price for TP right now... can't find any anywhere.

What is it with the toilet paper? I understand if people wanted to stock up on food, but toilet paper?

Every time TP goes out of stock in store, I go to the bathroom and turn on the shattaf to polish my shiny butt and appreciate this piece of technology more.

While I do use TP for drying the butt, the kirkland bag lasts for many months!

Also, treat your butt like you treat your Air Jordans :)

One explanation I heard was there are some list(s) of stuff you should get in case you are stuck at home for awhile, and the list(s) exploded all over social media, and one of the things emphasized was toilet paper. This itself could be a totally made up story that also spread on social media, but I wouldn't know because I don't really use social media, I was told this by a person that manages a retail store.

Do people not think for themselves anymore and realize just how silly the toilet paper thing is?

Never been so glad I stocked up on LOADS of toilet paper when they were cheap, at Staples.
I'm going to the convenient store to pick me up a pack of cigarettes...

Purex is for Loblaws in the West.
It's Cashmere for Loblaws in Ontario and Provigo in Québec.

1) people are used to preparing like this for natural disasters (hurricanes, floods, snow storms etc) which do cause problems such as no electricity, plumbing issues. Even though this isn’t a natural disaster, it’s just a default way to “be prepared”. Maybe a comforting mechanism to deal with uncertainty.

2) even the thought of running out toilet paper in case of large scale shut down is somewhat humiliating. (Can you imagine 6 people in the household struggling to wipe).

3) people see other people buying who have seen/been through/read about disaster preparedness and observers just imitate the behavior thinking “they must be doing something right” and what if at the end “nothing is left to purchase”
